Rules
Entrants must submit one Landscape Video in MP4 or MOV format with a duration of at least 30 seconds and no longer than 120 seconds.
1. When does this competition open and when does it close?
The “Cosplay Connection” competition will open on the 21st August 2020 and will close on the 25th September 2020, at 3pm AEST. The winners will be announced on the 2nd October 2020
2. What categories can I win?
Prizes for the Singer Cosplay Connection Competition are provided by Singer Australia.
Our competition has two prize categories, which will be decided upon by a panel of judges. These are:
- Best In Show – Awarded to the one entry in the competition that stands above all the rest! There’s no specific criteria for this award, so give it your all!
- Best Family / Group Cosplay – Awarded for both quality of costume and character portrayal within a family entry.
3. How do I enter?
Entrants must submit one video file in MP4 or MOV format with a duration of at least 30 seconds and no longer than 120 seconds in Landscape format.
If your video is too large to upload please contact our team to organise a file transfer via cloud.
4. What costumes can I wear?
Entries may not have been previously awarded a monetary prize of $500 or more or awarded a position in any other cosplay competitions.
5. Can I buy my costume?
You can buy your costume. We prefer it if you make your costume yourself, or if a bought costume has been significantly altered.
6. What do I have to do for a performance?
You don’t actually have to do a performance at all if you don’t want to. If you are comfortable with performing, then this is a good opportunity to add to your cosplay. Performing in character will always reinforce your cosplay and make you more believable in your portrayal of your character.
7. How long can my video performance be?
Your video must be a minimum of 30 seconds and no longer than 120 seconds. If your performance runs longer than 120 seconds, you will be disqualified.
8. Can I do a performance about anything?
You aren’t limited when it comes to what to do a performance about, be it a deep reflective monologue, a comedy routine or a song and dance routine; however please be mindful that Singer and Supanova is a family-friendly business so please keep any content to a PG level. If it wouldn’t be appropriate for a 10 year old to watch your performance, please rework your performance accordingly.
Things such as explicit nudity, sexual activity regardless of gender, gratuitous violence, drug use, discriminatory language, advertising etc. are considered to be inappropriate. This will not be tolerated. Inappropriate behaviour will result in disqualification from the competition.
We discourage the use of fire, flash powder, lasers, explosives, smoke, or open flame of any kind.
Please realise that people will be watching your performance and may not understand or appreciate your sense of humour. The best way to have a positive impact on the judges and audience is to ensure your performance can reach everyone, whilst being true to your character.
9. Will my video be published on social media?
Most likely! We will try to publish as many videos as we can on our social media channels, and where it has been provided, credit the entrant and the videographer by tagging.
Singer may use any entries at their discretion for promotional purposes to promote the Cosplay Connection Competition.
